FORTY YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Here's Our Story

In an industry plagued by congestion and inefficiency, IMC Companies is leading in truck capacity, throughput, and innovation. We got there the hard way. Starting as a regional drayage firm forty years ago, patiently putting together a national network, leveraging local expertise, and building a technology infrastructure that moves containers faster.

Mark and Melinda George

When it all began

At just 20 years old, in the midst of a recession, Mark and Melinda George moved to Memphis to start a trucking company - Intermodal Cartage Company (IMCG).

IMCG opened a container yard to store, interchange, and perform light maintenance on containers and chassis for steamship lines.

Expanding to other markets in the Southeast

Over the next 10 plus years, IMC became the largest container drayage company in the southeast. We opened a second service center in Nashville, expanded to Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Birmingham, Jacksonville, Savannah and Atlanta. We relocated and expanded the container yard in Memphis. We moved the corporate office, Memphis service center and depot operations to a newly constructed building on 164 acres in Southeast Memphis.
